I trust that you would have seen my previous two videos on “How To Build Self Confidence”. This is the final video in this series. It is well proven that, as a rule, people who lack self confidence can not be successful. But the good news is that self-confidence can be acquired like any other skill by practice and application of the mind. Here are the five Golden Tips.

Tip No-1 : Empower Your Body

If you have no zest for life then nothing you do is worth it. And one of the key attributes that can kill the zest for life is not being in a super and energetic physical shape.

People spend all their lives trying to become rich, gaining social status, getting position of power etc. But all this can go waste if you are in poor physical shape, clothes hang on you, you do not want to see yourself in a mirror and have no energy even for leisure activities.

I can only say that, physical fitness is one thing that should always remain the No-1 on your list of priorities. Your career, your pleasures, your mental faculties and your self esteem are all totally dependent on it. If someone still does not get it, then one has to be blind and brain dead.

Tip-No-2: Be At Peace With Yourself

One of my favorite quotes is of Eleanor Roosevelt. She said. “You would not worry so much about what others think of you if you realized how seldom others are actually thinking about you.

When you please others in the hope of being accepted, you lose your self-worth in the process. It is an attitude issue. You should focus on what you have v/s what you do not have.

Tip-No-3: Empower Your Mind

To me, empowering your mind and body is the 50% part of becoming a confident person. I do not tire of repeating that the best investment you can ever make is in yourself. Nobody wants to be in the company of “windbags”. Everybody wants to be around “interesting” persons who have their own opinions and perspectives on life, relationships and issues of society.

Tip-No-4: Speak Slowly.Use The Pause.

Such a simple thing, but it can have a big difference in how others perceive you. There is research to prove that those who take the time to speak slowly and clearly, feel more self-confident and appear so to others. Pausing before speaking has three big advantages. First, your pausing helps you build trust with the other person as you appear to be paying attention and not cutting him off in the middle. Nobody likes it. Secondly, simply by pausing for a few seconds before you reply, you will come across as a more thoughtful person. And lastly, by pausing, it gives you more time to organize your thoughts for a more interesting response. Bottom line, you will come across as a person who is confident, thoughtful and articulate.

Tip-No-5: Buck up your body language.

There is an age old saying that you are treated as you are perceived. And you are perceived what your body language conveys. Body language is a subject by itself but here are a few simple tips.

• First, pull yourself and stand tall. Just the simple act of pulling your shoulders back gives others the impression of being a confident person. It also makes you look more attractive.
• Next, Smile a lot. It works. A smiling face will make you feel better as well as others around you. It prevents you from looking depressed and diffident.
• Next, it is about Eye Contact. When talking to others, always speak with direct eye contact.
• Next, a firm handshake. Do Shake hands firmly and with a full hand grip.

Just implement the above and watch the change in your confidence and in dealings with the world. You will surprise yourself.
