Life is a stage and with a variety of characters. It has heroes as well villains. And it is inevitable that there will be people who dislike you. Either maybe because they are jealous of you, are just critical by nature or just unsettled by their own life situations. This is just a reality of life in human beings.
One way would be to cut them out of your life. But you cannot keep on running away and hide from these people as you will continue to meet such people throughout the journey of life. Only way out is to learn how to deal with them and protect your happiness and peace of mind.
Here are FOUR sutras that will help you to deal with such people.
Sutra-1 : Sidestep Tango
Name of the game is to control your mental state if someone rubs you the wrong way. Do not let a person who doesn’t like you take charge of your emotions.
You can always stand up and fight. But sometimes it is better to sidestep the person and minimize interaction. Like a matador sidestepping a charging bull.
Avoid arguments with such people. Avoid one-on-one conversations by finding an excuse to move away. Do not invite them to your group – for going out or social gatherings. Chances are that the person will soon get the message.
Sutra-2 : Clear The Clouds
Can you find the reason why the other person dislikes you?
There is a probability that a person dislikes you for no reason. But there is also a good chance that there is a reason. Most of the times, it is just a misunderstanding and lack of communication which compounds a relationship.
If you cannot apparently find any solid reason, then it is better to talk it out with the person to clear any misunderstandings. You may be surprised that nothing else was needed. Do not keep doubting other people’s intentions and make efforts to clear the clouds.
Sutra-3: Press The Reset Button.
Remember that the problem is with others and you can’t really control their behavior. Reset yourself every time you get affected by the actions of a person who exhibits his disliking towards you.
Take a deep breath and vow not to react instantly. Mull over what has happened and then decide to act or react. This will minimize your anger and frustration.
Make sure you vent out when required in a form you think is right for you. Live in the moment and don’t keep the anger dwelling inside you.
Sutra-4 : Gather Positivity
The easiest way to cancel out a negative person is to surround yourself with positive people. By doing so, you will be able to reduce stress and frustration that may otherwise grow aggressively in you.
Don’t focus on negative interactions and move on to people that deserve your attention. For instance, your family & friends deserve more care & attention than the people who don’t like you. So prefer prioritizing them over people who don’t fall within your inner circle.
The Takeaway
Some people project things they don’t like about themselves onto others and it’s not your headache. Don’t fall prey to a person whose behavior triggers you and makes you feel not liked by them. It is not worth it to invest your time and energy on negative interactions.
You need to get away from playing petty games with people who are not on the same page with you. These sutras should help you to do just that.
